This book is unbelievably well written, nonstop action suspenseful and thought provoking. I started reading and found it extremely hard to close the book even when it was past my bedtime. I really enjoyed the different characters in the book and how each character made this book a cliffhanger. Like all his other books, James Hadley Chase delivered a complex plot but easy to follow without getting lost in the shuffle of characters. I will probably pick this book up again may be in another twenty years and read all over again, God willing. Thanks Amazon for the incredible price of this book. At this price I have been able to buy several books in the past few months. Please take the time to read this book you will not be bored or disappointed.

“Queen is smart. Queen is pretty. But nobody likes her except her kitty.”

Queen’s house—the biggest one on 33rd Street--looks just like a castle, and in her bedroom, she has dozens of beautiful dresses and crowns. Queen thinks she’s a real queen, and she treats everyone, even her teacher, like her royal subject.

When a new kid comes to Queen’s school, riding a broken bike and wearing smelly, worn-out clothes, Queen joins her classmates in making fun of him. Her parents insistshebe nice to Leroy, but Queen doesn't see why she should. Leroy doesn’t just stink; Queen thinks he tells lies—whoppers in fact. And when he says he’s an African prince from Senegal, Queen makes it her mission to prove Leroy is an impostor.

But as she gets closer to discovering Leroy’s real story, Queen learns the unexpected from her broken bike boy: what being a good friend and “happily ever after” really mean.

From School Library Journal
Grade 5–7—Queen Marie Rousseau is intelligent and capable. She is also bossy and selfish. Spoiled from birth by her father and three older brothers (and somewhat less by her mother) and homeschooled until she was in third grade, Queen has no idea how to relate to her fifth-grade classmates. She doesn't seem able to keep her mouth shut and often treats them with scorn. When a new boy, Leroy, appears in class—smelly, ill-dressed, and claiming he is from Africa—Queen is sure he is lying and becomes determined to prove it. Following him, she discovers that he is running errands for a neighbor, an actor who has developed agoraphobia. Queen bullies Leroy into telling her about Cornelius and tries to talk her way into his apartment. Her high-and-mighty attitude doesn't work with the man—he insists that she solve a complicated riddle and act decently before he will speak with her. So begins Queen's slow and bumpy realization that being pleasant will smooth her relationships with others. She eventually gains entrance into Cornelius's apartment and discovers all the memorabilia he has collected over a lifetime of world travel. And she finds a real friend in Leroy. Flake has created a character who is difficult and unlikable but at the same time sympathetic. Everything is wrapped up a little too quickly, but that will not deter readers from rooting for the child to change her attitude and find her place in the world.—Terrie Dorio, Santa Monica Public Library, CA

From Booklist
I am a queen. Spoiled, smart, pretty, privileged, and mean, fifth-grader Queen Marie Rousseau has barely a friend at school—even the teacher dislikes her. Things change when she meets her knight in shining armor—the new kid, Leroy. He smells like moldy clothes and rides a rusty, broken bike, but he shows her a whole new world near his neighborhood projects. Queen knows Leroy is a fake when he says he is an African prince from Senegal, but then he brings gold coins and an elephant tusk to school. Are they real? Where did he get them? The mystery is fun, and even though the solution is a bit contrived and message-driven, Queen's arrogant, first-person, present-tense narrative brings readers along as she takes a voyage around the world that changes her. Queen's discovery, We are all from Africa, makes a great climax. Rochman, Hazel

not just a girl book. a good read
By Roeshell Robinson
I read this one with my 5th grade son and this was actually a good book for boys too. I was kind of hesitant at first after looking at the cover with the girl but there are some really good points made in this story like not judging people by appearance. I love the way the author shows us how the relationship between the princess and the boy grows from one of dislike to something really special. You should get this book if you want to help your kids understand that even though some of us have more than others, we are all the same and we should always try to help each other.

Queen is an incredibly stuck up ten-year-old girl whose family's praise has given her a very high opinion of herself. Her father and older brothers have spoiled her to the point where she's very, very easy to dislike. Unsurprisingly, no one at school seems to appreciate or recognize her supposed superiority.

Leroy is a new boy in her class, who smells funny and whose bike is broken. Queen is sure that he's a liar, especially when he tells stories about being royalty from Africa, and she can't stand him. Her parents try to force her to be nice to him, so they are thrown together despite Queen's dislike. Through Leroy, Queen learns some important lessons.

She's still not a very likeable heroine, though. I don't think I was supposed to like her. Be prepared for that going into this book, and you'll be able to appreciate Sharon G. Flake's amazing (and unsurprising if you've read her previous books) talent.

I'm not sure how kids will feel about this book. Some of them may not be willing to read a book with a main character like Queen. But if they can give it a shot, it's a pretty enjoyable short novel.

Queen for a day (give or take a decade)
By E. R. Bird
I'm probably the laziest person I know when it comes to reviewing books. I'm okay on the reading part, and I'm just ducky at putting a book in my To Be Reviewed Pile. It's at the point when the book merges with the general pile that I tend to get distracted, though. Books get seriously frighteningly buried. I guess that's the danger with a vertical rather than a horizontal pile. Then the mediocre books begin to disappear from my mind. I forget their details and their characters. I can't conjure up a notable scene or moment from them, and then the end of the year rolls around and it's too late to review them anyway. Once in a great while, however, I'll bury a book deep down into my pile and it'll remain in my brain for months on end. Today's example of this is Sharon G. Flake's, "The Broken Bike Boy and the Queen of 33rd Street". I read this book so long ago that I've no clear-cut memory of the time or season anymore. Yet when I plucked it up just now it was if I'd finished it in its entirety only yesterday. Until this book the only Flake title I'd ever read was the mighty YA, Who Am I Without Him?. "Broken Bike Boy", then, proves that Flake's talent for switching genres is rivaled only by her strong characterizations.

It's enough to drive even the most superior member of the royal family bonkers. Queen knows that she's smart. Her father and her older brothers tell her every single day, and she loves correcting her teacher whenever she has the chance. That the kids in her school don't immediately recognize her innate superiority would be tolerable if they didn't all go and actually like nasty old Leroy instead. Leroy stinks and he lies. He says he's royalty from Africa, and Queen seems to be the only kid in her class that can see through his lies. Yet somehow this nasty boy has managed to charm everybody. Her teacher. Her parents. Her classmates. Everyone! But Queen's attempts to get at the truth behind Leroy's past teaches her a thing or two about what it truly means to be royal and, more importantly, a good person in this life.

At first when I was reading this book, I was ... well, basically I read this book like a kid would. I really did NOT like silly stuck-up Queen and I was feeling more than a little mad at Ms. Flake for forcing her upon me. I mean, this is a gal doted upon by her father and all her brothers. When one of them sends her a present she recounts how, "Then like always, he told me how much he loved me. Right after that I called my other brothers, to see what they would send me." ARG! Tell me that doesn't make you feel just a little crazy. Spoiled kids make for frustrating if intense reading. I'm ashamed to say that I was probably halfway through the book before it occurred to me that maybe you weren't supposed to like Queen. Maybe that was kind of the point. I've been so used to reading characters like Ida B from the novel of the same name that I had difficulty recognizing when I was supposed to be annoyed by my protagonist. Kudos to Ms. Flake then. It takes guts to make an unlikable hero. Guts and talent.

Pity about the end, really. Chapter 26 goes way too fast and ends the book with an abruptness that takes your breath away. Spoiler alert for those of you who'd rather not know the end. First of all, the villains are punks with pink hair. It's so retro it almost works. But then the action sequence starts and the herky-jerky writing throws everything off. For some reason, the style that serves the rest of the book so well goes wayward and odd here. Sentences are short and don't connect to one another in a pleasing fashion. Then the next thing you know you're at the end of the book and it's all happened so quickly that you don't know if you're coming or going.

Be all that as it may be, I'm a fan. The book sticks with you. Queen is so infuriating that it's nothing short of amazing that Flake is capable of making her sympathetic. The feeling of wanting to root for Queen even as you throttle her makes this book a standout in a fairly dull year. Ideal for booktalks, book discussion, and reading aloud in the classroom. Two thumbs up.

Review
Praise for Mata Hari's Last Dance:

"MATA HARI'S LAST DANCE is everything historical fiction should be: a transportive tale of a complex figure, brought to life in lush and evocative language, packed with too-good-to-be-true historical details. Michelle Moran's storytelling is as sumptuous and seductive as the subject herself. Like Mata Hari's spellbound audiences, you'll be cheering bravo."—Allison Pataki, New York Times bestselling author of SISI

"[Mata Hari] is a mysterious character, but Moran manages to formulate a realistic heroine....Readers of historical fiction will note the author’s signature attention to detail; however, the flawed Hari makes this engrossing reading." (Library Journal)

"By interweaving the strands of Mata Hari’s multiple reinventions into an evocative tapestry depicting the woman who captured the collective imagination of several nations, the author ensures that questions of her guilt or innocence ultimately take a back seat to her mesmerizing tale. Moran breathes new life into another atrophied legend of a remarkable woman who left an indelible mark upon her time and place in history." (Booklist)

Praise for Michelle Moran:

“I could not put this book down! Sita’s voice as narrator is a strong one, and the time and characters fascinating. Moran’s evocative writing transports the reader from small backcountry villages where women live out their lives in purdah to the exotic kingdom of Jhansi whose women freely walk the streets, and finally to the eye of the hurricane as British authority in Jhansi increases. . . . A riveting and addictive glimpse of that era.” (Historical Novel Review on Rebel Queen)

"This often deeply moving novel focuses on its characters, allowing history to play out as a backdrop to the personal story of a young woman who would risk everything, including her own life, for her people." (Booklist on Rebel Queen)

"Filled with fascinating historical details about a subject that is not often portrayed, the novel looks at both the rights of women and the conflict between the British Empire and India in a fairly unbiased way....Readers who have enjoyed Moran's previous works will not want to miss this." (Library Journal on Rebel Queen (starred review))

"Stunning in form, theme, and plot... Don’t hesitate to purchase this beautifully written gem, which is certain to shoot to the top of the charts, if not start a craze for 'everything Moran.'" (Library Journal, on The Second Empress)

"Moran expertly balances fact and fiction . . . . Intimate and entertaining." (Associated Press, on Madame Tussaud)

"Certain to be a breakout book for Moran, this superbly written and plotted work is a welcome addition to historical fiction collections. The shocking actions and behavior required of Tussaud to survive the revolution make the novel a true page-turner and a perfect reading group choice." (Library Journal (starred review), on Madame Tussaud)

"Dramatic, engrossing, and beautifully written, this is essential reading, and Moran is definitely an author to watch." (Library Journal (starred review), on Cleopatra's Daughter)

"Moran skillfully weaves into her latest book plenty of political history and detail without ever weighing down the story, which is fast-paced, intriguing, and beautifully written....A subplot about a mysterious 'Red Eagle' who is trying to incite a slave rebellion is riveting....In Cleopatra's Daughter, she once again demonstrates her talent for taking long-forgotten historical figures and bringing them vividly to life." (Boston Globe, on Cleopatra's Daughter)

"Historical fiction enthusiasts will delight in this solid installment from a talented name in the genre." (Publishers Weekly, on Cleopatra's Daughter)

"A solidly researched history lesson ... The book is a satisfying blend of romance, intrigue and fascinating historical fact. Cleopatra’s daughter may not share her mother’s renown, but Selene’s own life story is also worth surviving through the centuries." (Chicago Sun-Times, on Cleopatra's Daughter)

"The tale brims over with rich details of Roman life, historical personages and political turmoil. Add the coming-of-age aspect and you have a novel that will appeal to readers on many levels." (Romantic Times Book Review, on Cleopatra's Daughter)

"It's all here: palace intrigue, politics, romance, warfare, and religion. As beautifully written and engrossing as her first novel, this should enjoy wide readership. Recommended for all popular fiction collections." (Library Journal (starred review), on The Heretic Queen)

"Moran's careful attention to detail and her artful storytelling skills bring these people – pharaohs, princesses, and queens; petitioners, servants, and soldiers – to vivid life, imbuing ancient history with suspense and urgency." (Boston Globe, on The Heretic Queen)

"Almost every character in the book is based on a historical figure, and Moran fleshes out their personalities beautifully, highlighting the teenage pharaoh's arrogance and paranoia, underscoring his queen's ambition and insecurity....Inspired by the distinctive bust of Nefertiti at the Altes Museum, in Berlin, Moran has created an engrossing tribute to one of the most powerful and alluring women in history." (Boston Globe, on Nefertiti)

"Mutnodjmet as narrator is a stroke of genius. . . . Beautifully written and completely engrossing, this first novel should enjoy wide readership." (Library Journal (Editor's Pick of the Week), on Nefertiti)

"Nefertiti is a fascinating window into the past, a heroic story with a very human heart. Compulsively readable!" (Diana Gabaldon, on Nefertiti)

"Another enjoyable historical from Moran." (Publishers Weekly, on The Second Empress)

"Michelle Moran has authentically evoked an era, infusing her narrative with passages of gripping and often horrifying drama, set in one of history's most brutal periods. The scope of the author's research is staggering, but you won't need to get to the notes at the end to realise that. As historical novels go, this is of the first rank--a page-turner that is both vividly and elegantly written. I feel privileged to be able to endorse it." (Alison Weir, author of Innocent Traitor)

Mata Hari is no Nefertari
By Sebastian Lock
I typically enjoy Michelle Moran's historical fiction novels, but this one left me feeling cold and apathetic. Unlike the young women of previous novels, such as Nefertari, Selene Cleopatra, or even Madame Tusseaud, Mata Hari is not likable or sympathetic. While it is clear early on that she endured her fair share of tragedies, her present-day persona is one enamored by the latest fashion, gossip, and who's who in whatever city she happens to be in. She uses and abuses men for her own gains, and is only out for herself. While the writing is superb (as always) and the stage is set beautifully, Mata Hari fails to deliver.

Novel set largely in PARIS
By TripFiction
This is the story of Margaretha Zelle who morphed into the alluring and beautiful Mata Hari, spy, lover, dancer – true events are rolled into a fictional account of this unique woman’s life.

Most of us have a hazy – possibly crazy – notion of this glamorous woman, her name is famous, but to truly pin her down would be a hard task. The book portrays a woman blighted by early traumatic experiences – abandonment by her father, then by her first lover and ultimately by the man she believed to be her one true love.

At an early age she was single-minded enough to find a husband who would take her to Java, one presumes, so that she could see what became of her first love; but after the loss of one child, the marriage soon turned sour – with domestic violence an integral feature – and she left, to pursue a life of dance, glitz and glamour. An army of military lovers in Paris awaits and between performing risqu dances in the Salons and theatres of Paris, Madrid and Berlin, she enjoys the good life and revels in the gifts that rain down on her. She is the material girl of her era. Her performances in Salome, Cleopatra, plus Tristan and Isolde all hold her audiences in thrall. The first half of the book charts the serried ranks of men who end up being seduced and there are many encounters to plough through. The second half sees her negotiating her way through war-riddled Europe to her untimely demise, desperately finding a way to get her daughter Nom back from the clutches of her erstwhile husband Rudolph Macleod. She is “a woman who routinely couples ill-advised liaisons with requests for compensation“… so very true.

It is her penchant for men in uniform that ultimately brings her down. Naive. Disingenuous. A fantasist. Haughty. Manipulator of men. Vindictive (“I take when someone has taken from me“). Yet at times kind. Underneath of course there seems to have been a conflicted woman, emotionally damaged through multiple losses, who saw the world in terms of how it could serve her rather than what she could back in. A narcissist at heart but still a child too, searching, yearning perhaps for a father figure, and delighted by glittering gemstones as her reward for just being her. This woman was truly “an orchid among buttercups” but a damaged flower who struggled to really see her place in the world.

Mata Hari is a woman whose very essence is nebulous, and to attempt to tie down a credible portrait of this capricious character, dovetailing vulnerability with cupidity… that is no mean feat.

Evil seductress or scapegoat? This book will help you decide.
By JavaFennell
I never really knew what to believe about Mata Hari but I always just assumed that she was executed because she deserved it. As I learn more about life and history I realize that things aren't always as they seem. Michelle Moran weaves an incredibly beautiful story of the scandalous Mata Hari. It begins with the young M'greet and all her frivolous naivety. She is carefree, reckless, and flippant. She isn't very likable to start off but as Mata Hari opens up little by little as the narrator you understand there is so much more to her than just an exotic dancer in Paris. The book ends with what history knows about Mata Hari but, deep down, I had hoped history had gotten it wrong this time. This was such a magnificent book and I likely would have finished it in one sitting if I didn't feel the urge to know every possible thing I could about this infamous woman as I turned each page. I constantly was doing research wanting to devour as much knowledge of her as I could. In the end I believe she was a scapegoat. She was just another evil seductress to be killed for the history books by men who didn't understand her.

OK light reading if you're interested in IT personalities
By calvinnme
This book doesn't have any code tricks. It is just a series of interviews with people who have been instrumental in the software and IT industry over the past twenty years with an emphasis on more recent contributors. It mainly goes over how they look at problems and how they solve problems, with a good mix between their approaches to hard and soft skills. If you are a student doing a paper on the history of computing I'd say it would probably give you a pretty good look at some of the personalities involved in computing on which it is difficult to find much written. For example, James Gosling is the father of the Java language, but it is difficult to find any information on his approach to technical problems and his personality in general. This book gives you that kind of insight on Gosling and on other specific personalities that are leaders in the IT field. The final chapter on Weird Al Yankovic is rather strange, since he has nothing to do with the IT field and his intro has his qualifications listed as "The Programmer's Rock Star". I'm not sure how true that is, but it is an amusing chapter.

It's not for everyone, but it is a rare source for this kind of information.

Superficial chats with enterprise programmers
By Trevor Burnham
There are, roughly speaking, three worlds of programmers: the enterprise world, the startup world, and the academic world. As its ridiculous subtitle suggests, these interviews are with stars of the enterprise world, where Java and heavyweight IDEs dominate. If you don't use Spring and Eclipse, then most of the chapters will feel irrelevant to you. Personally, I'm a refugee from the Java world moving toward Ruby and Python (the languages that reign supreme in the startup world). The most pertinent interviews were with Andy Hunt and Dave Thomas, the founders of The Pragmatic Progammers. They do fine work; I'd much rather read just about any of their books than this one.

The overproduced design of this book is consistently annoying. Each interview is prefaced by a "Fact Sheet" about the rockstar programmer, with a baseball card-style breakdown of factoids. "Number of kids: Four." Uh, OK. Then the author places interjections throughout the chapter [and not just explanations on square brackets, though there are many of those] but also sidebars like: "Character attribute: Pragmatic, not excessive, optimizer." Ooookay. Why are you interrupting this interview to tell me that? It's as if the author expects me to go build a fantasy baseball team with these programmers. Then the book concludes with a totally superfluous interview with Weird Al Yankovic. Like the rest of the book, that interview doesn't know who its audience is: If you've never heard of Weird Al, it won't make you want to listen to him; and if you're already a fan, you won't learn anything new from it.

But the real problem with this book is the lack of depth. Interviewing programmers in depth without getting mired in too much technical trivia is a big challenge. Masterminds of Programming makes the opposite mistake, producing interviews that are tediously low-level. The one book of interviews with programmers that I'd recommend is Peter Seibel's outstanding Coders at Work. If you really want to know how smart programmers go about solving hard problems, that's the book to read.

great read
By Steve McManus
I found this book a great read for a variety of reasons. I don't have an IT background but I enjoy reading about groundbreakers and top performers in any field -- hence my interest in the book. The author does a great job of getting at why these folks are RockStars and how they all think about programming and software. But it also does a great job of getting at the issues they face that we all share -- how do I keep up with the deluge of information in my field, how do I stay current with trends and changes in the industry, how do I maintain a work/life balance, etc? And for those with an IT background, there is some very technical information as well. And with the great interview with Weird Al at the end, there is something here for everyone. You'll find value in this book if you don't know COBOL from Ajax, are in CS 101, or are a 20 year industry veteran.

Raine Taylor has one goal – justice for her murdered sister. She knows Genie's husband strangled her and left her in an alley – Peter had been threatening to kill his wife for years. The police said there was no proof Peter Northrup killed Genie. So it was up to Raine to make him pay.

When Detective Connor Donovan answers a call about a trespasser outside Northrup's house, he finds a woman running down the street. When he tries to stop her, he's left holding her hoodie as she strikes out like a ninja then vanishes like smoke.

Connor quickly realizes Raine is his mysterious trespasser. Now he has to figure out why she was outside Northrup's house at three A.M. Raine isn't his usual criminal – she's a schoolteacher who coaches a tae-kwon-do team of under-privileged girls. And he's wildly attracted to her.

Raine needs to stay away from Connor. She has a plan to deal with Northrup, and she can't get involved with a cop. But like two magnets drawing together, she can't resist him. Can Connor help her find justice for Genie? Or will her sister's killer claim another victim before they can stop him?

Good read from start to finish
By Mary Gramlich
Raine Taylor has no reason to believe in any law enforcement system. especially the police who have done nothing but brush her off when it comes to her sister’s murder. She knows who did it and if justice is a dish best served cold than this man is going to know what that feels like after she kicks him to the curb. Raine can defend herself and has honed her martial arts skills to perfection, so goading a murderer is not going to have her break a sweat. But Detective Connor Donovan disagrees with her less than great idea and is going to use all of his charms to convince her otherwise especially since he knows what her amazing plan of action is and he does not like it one little bit. Connor and his family have been in law enforcement longer than he likes to think about which given him an edge on getting to the bottom of things. Problem for Connor right now is he is distracted by Raine the woman, and being lost in thought of a gorgeous woman is when you make mistakes.

Convincing Raine to even have a meal with him was a herculean effort but once she did a bigger problem erupted with their inability to keep a comfortable, professional distance. To say there is chemistry between them would be an understatement since they just light up the night with a soul searching kiss. Both know they need to keep a clear head and when an agreement between them to work on resolving Raine’s sisters murder together becomes the best resolution Connor starts to question his judgment. Connor knows Raine wants revenge not justice but he feels teamwork is the only way to keep her safe is if he is right by her side on the street and in the bedroom nonstop. A relationship may freak they both out, and adjusting to something akin to an emotion neither wants to claim is an issue but two great minds can solve a murder or so they hope.

Raine and Connor battle each other as much as they do together but one thing is for sure they can take care of the bad guys during the day and draw strength in each other’s arms every night. No matter what tries to come between them life is so much better when they are together.

I can't wait to read more from the author
By Cranky - The Book Curmudgeon
Although this is book four in the series, it can easily be read as a standalone.

This story centers on Connor Donovan and similar to the rest of his family, he’s involved in law enforcement.

A detective, Connor usually doesn’t take the type of phone call about people trespassing. It’s below his jurisdiction, but that fateful call is going to change his life.

Arriving at the scene, he encounters a woman running and when he engages her, all he’s left with is an item of clothing and a bruised chest from the kick she delivers before vanishing. Not one to be deterred, Connor is determined to uncover the mysterious woman.

Raine Taylor is a martial arts sensei, training underprivileged girls. Her goal, however, is to find the evidence to prove her brother-in-law murdered her sister. This may take her to the edge and over legal channels. The last thing she wants is to get involved with a cop.

If you like romantic suspense, this was a great story with twists and turns along the way. The tension between the two leads was palpable.

Raine is a force to be reckoned with and sometimes, I found her trying. She’s still likable and heroic though.

Connor’s relationship with his family was fantastic. They support each other and they’re the type of family we all want.

I can’t wait to read more from this author and am about to pick up earlier works in the series. I’m a big fan now of the Donovan family.

With thanks to Shy vs. The Writer.

Excellent!
By stacejb
This was my favorite book of the series so far.

I loved Raine. A teacher/tae kwon do instructor at the school, she's very determined to do what's right for the people around her, even risking her own safety to help her students. I also liked that even though she's an independent woman, she's not afraid to admit she needs help proving her sister's husband was the one who killed her.

Connor was great. Even though Raine was fiercely independent, he was patient and waited her out until she admitted she needed his help. Instead of thinking she was crazy he immediately believed her and set aside time to help get justice for her sister. He even took interest in tae kwon do and in Raine's students, which he didn't have to do.

The other Donovan siblings make appearances, as does Rose, their mother. We once again see how great they are with each other, how quickly they accept Raine as one of their own, and how they band together in a time of crisis.

This book could be read as a stand-alone, but I recommend reading the other books in the series as well simply because they're good.

Fiona Finn,Huffington Post Blogger and author ofHelp Me God, I'mPoor: Send Pennies from Heaven(2015), sharesan insider's account ofhow to break the poverty or scarcity mentality. In the summer of 2010,Fiona was abandoned and left penniless by herhusband of tenyearsduring her fight against stage III colon cancer. Previously, unaware thatthe divorce rate is 21 percent for cancer-stricken wives, compared to 3 percent when husbands get ill, Fiona madeacriticalerror. Shebegan to focus all herenergyon saving her marriage instead ofsaving her own life. Thisexperience left her with a new found cause toraise awareness about thedangers to these ill women when they become distracted by divorce.
Still life gave thissingle motheranotheropportunityfor growth, testing herendurance and faith. For oncetreatment was over Fionajoinedthe 1in 3 Americanwomen, 42 millionwomen, plus 28 millionchildren, whoeither live inpovertyor are right on the brink of it. Afterexperiencing painfulpoverty firsthand, shelearned how to removethose negative thoughts preventing success. In order to movefrom avictim to a victor mentality, Fiona had to 'let go'and'letGod'guide her family out of avicious, self-reinforcingcycle of poverty. Help Me God, I'm Poor: Send Pennies from Heavenoffersagreatdeal of financial and moral support to those who feel helplessand alone. But what this author takes great pride in is her ability to weave humorinto all of her books, in order to light a candle of hope for others intheirdarkest of hours.
