Leopoldo Mend�vil L�pez es un escritor mexicano nacido en 1970. Estudi� comunicaci�n en la Universidad Iberoamericana. Ha trabajado como publicista en la casa Nautilus-Grupo Elektra; produjo y escribi� programas televisivos para la Presidencia de la Rep�blica y particip� como conductor en la serie televisiva El otro M�xico. Es autor de Psi-Code, una novela sobre los avances cient�ficos del cerebro y los programas secretos de Estados Unidos en la materia, as� como del bestseller Secreto 1910 (Grijalbo, 2011).

Escuch� a Leopoldo discernir sobre el tema del libro con Ram�n Pieza Rugarc�a durante una entrevista de radio. Fue una charla fascinante. Como resultado de ello, no dud� en descargar la versi�n electr�nica del libro. Lamentablemente, en lo personal, el libro me decepcion�. El autor intent� hilvanar ideas y uno que otro hecho con un elemento galvanizador que es la historia de una familia que tiene ra�ces en M�xico y Estados Unidos pero no con mucho �xito. La fragilidad del hilo conductor de ese tipo de narrativa hace que el todo se deshaga en mil pedazos que no guardan coherencia alguna. No s� si la intenci�n fue caricaturizar el relato pero el problema es que temas tan serios no se prestan para ello. Estoy seguro que para el autor la tem�tica es sumamente seria pero el libro no parece serlo.

Excelente saga, a veces la realidad supera la ficci�n, si se pudiera demostrar la mitad de los hechos que este libro ofrece y la sociedad hiciera eco de ello, esta verdad nos har�a libres, mis felicitaciones al autor

Una investigaci�n period�stica disfrazada de novela... pero mal disfrazada, adem�s.

Tenemos en esta obra una investigaci�n period�stica disfrazada de novela. No es precisamente mala, aunque abusa del "Cortar-copiar-pegar", tanto al interior del texto como en las referencias a sus dos novelas previas, Secreto 1910 y Secreto 1929. Abusa de un pseudo realismo m�gico (un personaje que est� en lo m�s alto del World Trade Center el 11 de septiembre de 2001 y vive sin problemas) y de hip�tesis algo exageradas. Sin embargo, buena parte de los hechos reales que incluyen en el texto concuerdan con fechas, nombres y motivaciones, y pueden ser consistentes con la realidad.
En resumen, como novela le falta algo, como investigaci�n period�stica puede ser un buen experimento. L�anla pero no duden en saltarse esos p�rrafos que suenen repetitivos o autoreferentes. M�s detalles en la rese�a publicada en el blog Dichos y Bichos.
